The Sigma Kappa Promise Program
During the first six weeks in Sigma Kappa, new members participate in the Promise program, our new member education program. The Promise program encompasses Sigma Kappa history, values and traditions, a focus on personal development, academic assistance, and leadership opportunities. Sigma Kappa is committed to providing young women with a balanced experience not only during their new member period, but also throughout their college career.
On Bid Day, each new member receives a "Heart Sister" who walks them through the beginning of the Promise program and who helps them get aquatinted with the chapter. A few weeks later, new members get to select their "Big Sister." The relationship between a "Big Sister" and "Little Sister" is a mentor-student relationship, where the Big Sis supports and helps the new member through the rest of her new member period and initiation. These members serve as role models for the new members, and shower them with lots and lots of Sigma Kappa gifts! :)
The Promise program begins approximately 1 week after Bid Day, and continues until the end of October.
